What is The “Oman’s Future Skills initiative”?

The Diwan of Royal Court has issued a directive to The Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) to carry out ‘Oman’s Future of Skills Initiative’, in its capacity as the authority mandated to develop the strategies and policies required to achieve sustainable development in the Sultanate of Oman. As such, the SCP has placed a renewed focus on the collaboration of these three sectors in order to achieve its objectives under the 9th five-year plan as well as those set out in the nation’s transformational strategy, Vision 2040.

The initiative was announced at the 2019 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, and inaugurated with a signing ceremony led by the Chairman of the initiative, His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Planning, and Ms. Saadia Zahidi, Managing Director and Head of the WEF’s Centre for the New Economy and Society.

The initiative will compile information that educators, businesses, and governments can use for strategic and policymaking purposes to better prepare human capital for the future.
